Who we are

Trace2Laser is part of Zone.net.au, a set of tools built and run by Flying Pictures Laser Show Systems (ABN 81 394 284 413), trading as Flying Pictures. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

Trace. In Local mode your image is traced entirely in your browser and never leaves your device. In AI-assisted mode your image is sent to our server and on to an AI image service (Google Gemini, or OpenAI if the premium engine is chosen) to produce the line art, which we then convert to SVG. We don't keep your original image, but we keep the AI-generated line-art result in a cache on our server, identified only by a hash of your image and the chosen style, so the same image doesn't have to be processed twice. That cache is kept until we clear it, and you can email us to have an entry removed. Your recent runs are also cached on your own device (IndexedDB) so you can reopen them.

Rotoscope (video to ILDA). If you submit a video, we store the uploaded video on our server while it is processed and for about 24 hours afterwards so it can be re-rendered, then delete it. The finished laser files (.ild and related exports) and job details are kept for up to 365 days. Some access to renders is protected by an access code.

To limit abuse and cost, we count requests per IP address and per day.

How we use it

Only to produce the files you asked for and to keep the service fair and secure. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising or to train AI models.

Where your data lives

Our servers are hosted by Hostinger in India. Nightly backups of the servers are kept for up to about two months. Cloudflare provides DNS only.

Backups of the server include finished render files and may keep copies longer than the periods above.

Standard server logs

Like any web server, ours keeps access logs (IP address, page requested, browser user-agent, timestamp) to run and secure the service. They are rotated automatically.

Cookies and tracking

We don't set any cookies, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers. The app is an installable web app (PWA), so it stores a service-worker cache and your recent runs on your device.

Third parties

• Google (Gemini API) and OpenAI: in AI-assisted mode they receive the image you upload so they can generate the line art. They handle it under their own terms and privacy policies, and process data in the United States and other countries.
• Hostinger (India) hosts our servers.
• Cloudflare provides DNS only.
